Day 1

After meeting at the school and saying our goodbyes we departed from Collie SHS at 4:30 pm, happily ready for the journey ahead. The bus ride was long and enjoyable as we all were awaiting the long flights to come. After enjoying duty-free shopping we boarded our flight at 10 pm, awaiting the 10:30 pm take off to Dubai, for a long 13 hours. The flight passed quickly with a huge selection of movies and provided meals, which all students thoroughly enjoyed. Some got sleep, some didn't but we were all exhausted by the end. We had a stop over for around 2 hours, we briefly explored the Dubai airport and many of us were wishing for a coffee. The flight from Dubai left at 8:30 am and lasted 7 hours, landing in Paris at 2 pm. We collected our luggage and met up with Francois before heading towards our hotel for a quick change of clothes into our formal uniform, and heading to the Arc de Triomphe. This was our first experience using the metro lines, which run throughout all of Paris. Once arrived, we circled the building, observing and admiring the amazing architecture of this war memorial. We then climbed to the top of the Arc, where we viewed the city of Paris and its surroundings. After many photos, we climbed down, and went to get dinner, finding out that the restaurant that was supposedly booked, was in fact not, requiring us to walk around the streets looking for a new place to eat. We had a large feed of french onion soup, followed by the main course, which was most peoples first experience of eating duck.  After a long walk home, passing by the "Moulin Rouge", we all arrived back at the hotel, exhausted and ready for a good nights sleep.
